BEP filled with LA DEQ.
On September 21, 2011 I submitted the Beneficial Environmental Program (BEP) proposal to Secretary Hatch at the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LADEQ) on behalf of the Honey Island Conservation Program (HICP). This proposal is requesting that the HICP be supported by funding that would be part of a settlement with Temple-Inland Inc. as a result of the chemical release that led to a massive fish kill on the Lower Pearl River. While awaiting the outcome of the settlement and the fate of the BEP proposal the HICP plans to hold it's first official meeting of members in early November and continue to seek other sources of funding for this program.
